KS4 Data

2017 Results Data

This was the third year that students at South Wigston High School have taken GCSE examinations and we are pleased to say that there are many success stories.

This year the way that schools’ performance measures are judged is very different to the way in which they have been judged previously.

Good Passes in English and Math’s

This is the percentage of students who have achieved both English and Math’s GCSEs at a grade 4 or above, the ‘basics’ or ‘threshold’ measure. For the year 11 cohort 2016 - 2017 our basics (threshold) figure was 50%.

The English Baccalaureate

This is the percentage of students who achieved an A* - C or 9 - 4 in English, Math’s, two Sciences and History or Geography. In 2017 our EBacc figure was 22%.

Student Destinations

Finally schools are asked to publish their student destinations data. We are confident that the number of students not in education, employment or training will be very low. However we are not able to publish this data at the moment, as we are carrying out our final checks with local schools and colleges.

Therefore in summary our results were:

  • Good pass in English and Mathematics 50% (9-4)
  • English Baccalaureate 22% (9-4)
  • Destinations – we are in the process of verifying this figure
Other pleasing results included:
  • English Literature 67%
  • English Language 59%
  • Mathematics 54%

  • Dance - 70%
  • ECDL - 100%
  • Food - 77%
  • Health and Social Care - 59.5%
  • History - 56%
  • PE/Sport - 66%
  • Additional Science - 56.8%
  • Spanish - 63.5%
  • Textiles - 62.5%

In addition, a Year 10 student achieved an A grade in AS Maths.

I hope you find this summary and explanation of our 2017 results useful. Please contact me, at the school, if you have any questions or queries.
