Welcome to the South Wigston High School Website. Hopefully it will give you a good picture of our school; what we are like and what we do.
Our vision is "success for all". That means we aim to help every student here be the best they can be. Equally, this applies to staff and governors, as by investing in our human resources, we can create better opportunities for our students.
The school is developing rapidly. Granted 11-16 status by the Secretary of State for Education, we are, with great support from parents and students, developing a new curriculum for KS4. Obviously this means new resources, new policies and structures to give our students the best chances of success.
Our students are indeed successful. Progress from KS2 to KS3 is exceptionally high, behaviour is excellent and our students are very engaged in the wider side of school life, from our clubs to decision making in the school council. Many of our young leaders, are involved in helping us make some of the big decisions and changes we need to be constantly improving.
Our school is now in its seventies and has a long and proud tradition of high achieving students as the ever growing names and photographs in our Hall of Fame shows. Despite being around for a while, our school is in great shape, with excellent modern facilities, from computer rooms to our sports academy.
I hope you find our website useful and I hope, if you're a parent you’ll see we are committed to a partnership that will help everyone linked with the school succeed in life.
