Operation Encompass is a police and education early information safeguarding partnership enabling us to offer immediate support to children and young people experiencing domestic abuse.
Operation Encompass ensures that there is a simple telephone call or notification to our Designated Safeguarding Lead (add name) prior to the start of the next school day after an incident of police attended domestic abuse where there are children related to either of the adult parties involved. This sharing of information enables appropriate support to be given, dependent upon the needs and wishes of the child.
From September 2022, Leicestershire police are expanding the information that they are sharing confidentially with the safeguarding leads in Leicester and Leicestershire schools. This new Information Sharing Platform means that the police will share with us incidents that they have attended where they feel there has been an impact upon a child’s physical, emotional or mental well-being. This information is shared so that (name of school) can better understand children’s living experience and can support, nurture and care for them more effectively.
